PROJECT

AiF was commissioned to design a mountaintop retreat that would serve both and corporate leadership and friends for the owner, the CEO of a large commercial construction company from New York. The site is a rugged hilltop with unparalleled 360 degree views east to the Atlantic, west to the Caribbean, south to Nevis and north to the volcanic Mount Liamuiga, and the neighboring islands of St Barths, St Martins and Antigua. The sculptural design grows out of the land itself, cast in local concrete and stone, the caretaker’s cottage buried below the arrival court, guest wing buried into the hillside, pool and outdoor living projected out toward the Atlantic, and the main house and owners’ quarters rising out of the rocks to frame each of the majestic views uniquely. Daylight cross-breezes mingle against polished concrete with local aggregate and large boulders from the site to create an a soothing experience of living with and to withstand the land, the sea and the elements.
