NYC HPD considers Navy Green Supportive Housing one of the agency’s marquis projects for design excellence within the Supportive Housing program. On the outside it’s a bold beacon; the building is perceived as a billboard from the expressway, and a warm and welcoming neighbor at the street....

We like to really get to know our clients, and in this case, become lifelong friends after the project. AiF was retained to reconsider a 1970’s “ranch-burger” with a quirky and delightful owners’ wing designed by Andrew Geller in the early 1980’s, all set into a glorious 3 acre landscape.....

Our overall design approach to the restoration of this landmarked rowhouse is “rigorously eclectic”. Much of the original stone and woodwork was maintained and restored, and overall detail was edited, abstracted, reduced, clarified.  The parlor floor was opened up to create a singular grand salon. Woodwork was refinished and extended, and painted a cool grey to recede, so that it’s not immediately clear what’s old and what’s new.
