Espasso LA
Los Angeles, California
We were asked to design a third home for Espasso in Los Angeles, and a fifth project with Espasso for us. This project reduces “SHOWROOM” to its essence by making the most powerful of statements, quietly, chromatically, and experientially. It transformed a dismal, residual 4,000 SF showroom space - albeit in a ‘prime location’ within the Pacific Design Center (Ceasar Pelli’s “Blue Whale”) and made it a star attraction. The space combines the LA living experience with Brazilian design (both modernisms rooted in relationship to the outdoors). We transformed a generic “box-in-a mall” experience to a sensation of being underwater in a David Hockney-painted swimming pool, consummately LA and modern.
