A young, newlywed couple was lucky enough to acquire both an adjacent studio and one-bedroom apartment to their initial two-bedroom apartment. They saw an opportunity to create a completely new urban home for a growing family and thus began an ambitious gut renovation. The Miesian bones of the building were sussed out to create a luxurious home, at once casual and playful, pin-wheeling around a large pearwood and gray corian kitchen, highlighting their dual passions for cooking and entertaining.

As befits the best Manhattan flats, perimeters and soffits were packed out with storage, HVAC, and lighting to leave an open stage for play and display. The end result is a clean, lively urban apartment equally suited to entertaining adults and children.
