House for a Butcher and Art Maven
Long Island, NY
We like to really get to know our clients, and in this case, become lifelong friends after the project. AiF was retained to reconsider a 1970s “ranch-burger” with a quirky and delightful owners’ wing designed by Andrew Geller in the early 1980s, all set into a glorious three acre landscape. The empty-nesters set out on an ambitious course with Matt that involved renovating the primary wing, the guest wing, stitched to a new, uplifted public wing for entertaining, and a detached four-car garage. The playful storage and display of her art and his cars in a rich interior and exterior landscape brings the proverbial “outside in” and turns the house into a lantern at dusk.
